This picture was put under the heading, "The Delaware Canal", however we were never quite sure where the picture was taken. It was then brought to our attention by a contemplative Morrisville viewer that this is not the canal, but rather the creek that made the "Island" an island. We believe this picture was taken from Bridge Street, just beyond the grist mill stone, looking north. Delmorr Avenue would be at the top of the hill to the left.
We believe this picture was taken from beyond the spill gate near the end on Maple Avenue. The cut-off end of Hillside Avenue would be straight ahead, and the foot bridge at the end of Palmer Street would be just beyond the bend.
These man are rowing toward the concrete bridge on Bridge Street. The present day Holiday Inn would be to the right.
This picture may have been taken from the bridge on Bridge Street, looking toward the bridge on Pennsylvania Avenue.
With the hill dropping off to the left, we believe this picture was taken from near the end of Maple Avenue,
This picture was taken across the street from Burn's pharmacy. McGarity's Bindery is to the right and the bridge over Pennsylvania Avenue is to the left.
Below, the concrete bridge in the top picture, is the same bridge seen in the picture of the two men in the boat. These bridges crossed the canal at Bridge Street. The top concrete bridge has also been replaced with a flatter bridge. Although not readily visable, the bridge on Pennsylvania Avenue can be seen in the backround of the bottom picture under the bridge.

This picture below is a post card incorrectly labeled Dunmore Ave. It is the same vantage point as the picture above. If you look closely you can see buildings on Delmorr Ave. that are still there today. Note the reddish building on the left with the small room at the top. This building is next to the Delmorr Lanes Bowling Alley. See pictures at right, as it looked in 1893 and today.
