Bucks County Artists and Craftsmen

Bucks County has long been known for it's abundance of artists and craftsmen. The artist colony of New Hope on the banks of the Delaware River has been a focal point for painters, sculptors, photographers and artisans of all types for many years. As the rest of the world came to recognize the beauty of Bucks County the art community spread up the river to Lumberville, Point Pleasant and all across the rolling hills and heartland of Bucks County including Peddler's Village in Lahaska. KATHRYN (KIT) DALTON BIOGRAPHYKathryn (Kit) Dalton, a Bucks County native has been drawing and painting her entire life. Early on in her art studies she received recognition for her designs, and paintings, including a scholarship from The Village Improvement Association of Doylestown Hospital. She began her formal education in fine art at the Hicks Art Center- of Bucks County Community College - taught by artists such as Paul Keene, Emmet Gowen, and Jack Gevins. She transferred to Tyler School of Art where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Illustration and Graphic Design. She studied with Stanislaw Zagorski and Joseph Scorsone at Tyler.After college she worked in local art and advertising studios producing illustrations, logos, and ads for a variety of clients- freelancing and in-house. Later she worked independently and continued to produce logos and designs, and added promotional products and custom product designs to her list of services. More recently Kit was an art consultant for upscale art galleries for 4 years.

Biography of Jackie Walker Jacqueline studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago,Illinois and at the Pennsylvania Academy of Art and the Fleisher ArtMemorial in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ms. Walker has also taken classes with Coulter Watt.With a strong natural ability,Ms. Walker has painted "plein air" in the Bucks County countryside as well as in Europe and has done many portraits and figures. As a member of the Doylestown Art League, she has won numerous awards, the latest for "First in Oils" and honorable mention for "Amber" afigure. She exhibits at the Canal Frame-Crafts, Washington Crossing and theDelaware River Gallery, Yardley, PA. She will be featured at theStover Mill Gallery, Erwinna, Pennsylvania throughout August, 2008."The primary purpose of my efforts as a painter is to paint sothatthere is an effective balance of color, light, and shadow, creating astrong atmospheric element in my paintings."

Born and raised in Morrisville, James Gafgen is a well renowned artist, craftsman and sculpture. Jim always took pride in Morrisville's colonial history. When asked to create a bronze statue of Robert Morris, the town's namesake, Jim presented Morrisville with this most beautiful statue. Unfortunately when these pictures were taken the front view was in the shadow.
